Option 1: User provided non-topological data model

This option allows an organization to create maps using a non-topological model. This means that users can produce cartographic representations without the need for logical connectivity typically found in topological models. This option provides the easiest starting point in terms of simple data requirements, system complexity, and the skills required to sustain the system. Users can participate in the system with the right applications for their role, based on whether they’re using desktop, web, or mobile apps.

This option delivers foundational network management capabilities to users across an organization, such as:

  • Asset location mapping and visualization with spatial / location context
  • Querying by attribute, geometry, and geography
  • Data management through desktop, mobile, and web applications
  • Exporting asset information to external business systems, such as an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system
